Social welfare training

Training to build skills and participation in social welfare activities.

We run a social welfare training programme that prepares people to take part in organised community service, so that the willingness to help does not go unused. The training covers the practical skills welfare work depends on: identifying what a neighbourhood actually needs, planning a small activity from start to finish, working as a team and sharing responsibility clearly, keeping simple and honest records, communicating with families, and handling health, hygiene and safety matters responsibly.

We hold the sessions close to the communities we serve, and we build them around discussion and practice rather than lectures. Participants work through real situations, take on small assignments in their own areas, and review together what worked and what did not. We encourage groups to keep working together once the training ends, and anyone who begins organising activities is welcome to come back to us for advice.

This matters because much of the environmental and social pressure on Bangladeshi households is felt locally first: polluted rivers and canals, unsafe drinking water, arsenic in groundwater, waste with nowhere to go, smoke from brick kilns and traffic, and the long disruption that floods and storms leave behind. Organised relief cannot reach every lane and every homestead. Trained local people can, and they remain long after outside help has moved on.

We welcome anyone willing to give time to their community: students, young people seeking a first structured role, women's groups, teachers, community leaders and retired people. No formal qualification is required, and we accept participants regardless of background, gender or religion.
